“Train a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not swerve from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

In the Rite of Baptism parents accept the responsibility of training children in the practice of the faith. It is their duty to bring them up to keep God’s commandments as Christ taught us by loving God and our neighbor.

The Holy Family is the perfect example of the Catholic/Christian life. By living our faith through our daily commitment to Jesus Christ, we share love for one another, and we become a witness for others of God’s love for his people. The staff at Our Lady of the Woods looks forward to serving your family as you answer this call to holiness.

Pope John Paul II referred to the family as the “domestic church.”  In other words, your home is the heartbeat of our faith; the place where God’s love and teachings are lived out every day. Also, we know well that as parents, you are the first and primary catechists of your children in the faith.  What does it mean to be the primary catechist?  Every moment in your home (the domestic Church) can be a teaching moment. Our mission is to support you in this effort abundantly.

We encourage all parents to take part in Adult Catechesis, Bible Study, Evangelization programs, and to serve in Ministry roles here in the parish.
