Eucharist

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch. The Catechism of the Catholic Church #1324

The Church teaches us that it the responsibility of the home, to teach, our faith and to uphold it with the strongest respect; we partake in Eucharist as a family, so we prepare as a family.

First Eucharist~As a parish faith community we have embraced this program to bring families together on this journey. This does not mean that all formation takes place at home. We need the support of a faith community, so children will learn that it is important for Catholics to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist as often as possible.

This program is a great refresher or reminder for adults as well as older children. Having a child in sacramental preparation is a great opportunity for a family to unite and embrace faith together. This is a wonderful time to set up a prayer space in our homes, and it gives opportunity to begin family prayer. The meal-time prayer is a very good place to start if you are not already praying together.

Sacramental years are great times to begin new family traditions or rebirth old family traditions. We Catholics have so many great traditions to embrace. For parents seeking First Eucharist preparation for children in grades 2 through 4, First Eucharist is coupled with First Reconciliation preparation. Please contact our Religious Education department. This is a year long program that begins in the fall, and concludes in the spring. The completion of first grade is a prerequisite.
